This month is Breast Cancer Awareness Month and monthly self breast exams are something every woman should do! It was almost a year ago a good friend of mine, Donya, felt a small lump in one of her breasts. It didn’t hurt….it was just there. She immediately went to the doctor and testing proved it to be breast cancer. So, the day before her scheduled mastectomy Donya came to the studio to have pictures taken of her and the “girls.” We decided then it would be part of a series we would call “Boobology” to document the reality of having breast cancer. When all of her treatments are over and she is fully healed, she plans on using the photos for reconstructive surgery, Donya had a double mastectomy, full chemo treatment and full radiation treatment and still has the best outlook on life of almost anyone I know! Does she not have the most infectious smile ever? So, with her permission, I give you some of our photos from “Boobology.”
