Kathleen and Kurt are on The Knot ya’ll!

(photo from the Knot)

If you remember Kathleen and Kurt’s wedding (here) then you remember how fun they were for me to photograph! They had an awesome carnival themed wedding at the Palace Theater in Louisville. There were a ton of memorable moments, and The Knot was in LOVE with one of their cake cutting photos. They loved it so much they posted it in their article “11 Real Couples Cut the Cake.

Gatlinburg Wedding Photographer | Ripley’s Aquarium | Haley and Ryan

You may remember Ryan and Haley from their surprise engagement session here. Well they asked me to come with them to Gatlinburg TN and be their wedding photographer as well. So this wedding was a first for me…..It was the first wedding I have ever shot in an aquarium. I was so excited to hear what Haley had planned for her big day with Ryan. Haley was pampered by the girls at Fringe Salon. Then we went back and she had a gorgeous dress from Bridal Warehouse she slipped into, then we made our way over to Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies. We did a few bridal portraits before the ceremony started out in the aquarium. The Jules Verne Room where Haley and Ryan got married featured a huge window into the shark and stingray tank. It was amazing! The reception was even cooler. A scuba diver was doing some tricks with the rays and he comes over to the window by where Ryan and Haley are sitting. Then he pulls out a sign congratulating them and blows a heart made of air bubbles under water. Very very cool! Everything was arranged by the Little Log Chapel in Gatlinburg and Ms. Margaret from Ripley’s. They did an amazing job!

A Carnival Wedding at Caldwell Chapel and the Louisville Palace Theatre | Kurt and Kathleen | Louisville Wedding Photographer

You may remember this couple from their preview here. Kurt and Kathleen had an awesome wedding at Caldwell Chapel at the Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. Then they followed that up with what was literally one of the best receptions I have ever been to. Big props to Sydney O’Bryan at the Louisville Palace for orchestrating everything. The reception included a magician, popcorn, cotton candy, giant jenga, a pie eating contest and cornhole. There was also a vintage type writer that guests could type wishes to the bride and groom. Kathleen found so many awesome touches for her wedding from Pinterest, including putting the garter on a football. And because it was the Palace, Kurt got to chuck the football off of the balcony to a waiting group of men below. Such a cute idea!

Kathleen and Kurt did a private first look….which I LOVED! It gets so many of the jitters out of the way and gives us some time to get some awesome photos! Louisville Wedding Photographer Courtney Ellis

And I have to write a little something about Kurt’s ring. It has Kathleen’s fingerprint on it. How awesome is that?!?!

And I was quickly schooled on the Mabis Way of eating popcorn. The top photo below shows the other way to eat popcorn. The one below that shows the Mabis Way. More fun for sure!

Naughty Elf on the Shelf

Someone’s been naughty this year!

So Jill, over at Baby Rabies is doing her third annual inappropriate elf contest. I had so many ideas and worked on about 4 of them. This was the final image I chose. I had to work in one of my favorite shows! I will post some others in a little while (like Buddy’s version of Between Two Ferns with Zach Galifinakis), but let me leave you with Buddy, the blue meth making elf. Yeah science!
